Question 1
I have a Honda Civic 2008 model with 15k miles on it. Do I need to do service before service light glows?...  Honda Civic 2008 - Service

Answers
1)   The service lights on most vehicles only serve as a reminder for the driver. Some people forget to get the oil changed and the service light can remind them they need to have it done. Each time the dealer will reset the service light, sometimes they forget so it may be useful to ask it if was reset. Hope this answers your question. - Alternateye

2)   you need to do service based on the owners manual not the light in the car. - Gizmo!

3)   The orange wrench will show up when your oil life is around 15%. You can toggle through your odometer to see your current oil percentage is. You should need an oil change about every 6-7000 miles. We recommend you get a "service" (ie tire rotation) done every other oil change. If you go to the same dealership each time for service on your car they should be able to tell you what you are due for. - briley628

4)   look at your service book for the recommended service schedule usually once a year or 10,000 miles but if you have long life oil it is less - Harley Drive

5)   Briley is right on track. Going 15k miles without an oil change is not normal. I own an Element and made it to 7k. You should have an orange wrench that showed up in the cluster and where your odometer is it will read "OIL LIFE 15%" and then have a number or letter and number. This is part of the maintenance minder system.

If it has been over a year without an oil change you need to get one. This is in your owners manual that 1 year or 15%oil life, whichever comes first. - Honda Servant

Question 2
What grade to oil to use on my Honda Civic?...  Honda Civic: Engine: D16A8 (1.6 Litre)

Could I use 5w sports oil? Or what would be good?

Is the lower the W, the better? I'm noob.

Answers
1)   Look at the handbook.

The W value indicated the viscosity (thickness) of the oil. If you used 5 W your engine would wear away in a few hundred miles. Use the correct grade. - Johnka

2)   Short answer: Use what your car's owner's manual recommends.

Longer answer:

What climate do you live in? The "w" in motor oil designations stands for "weight" and the number is a measure of the oil's viscosity. It has nothing to do with quality. A 5w motor oil has very low viscosity and might be appropriate to use in the middle of winter in Alaska. 40w motor oil has fairly high viscosity, appropriate to summer in Los Angeles.

There are also multi-weight oils that cover a range. 10w30 to 10w50 are commonly used in temperate or variable climates. - Jerry H

3)   for best performance use only fully synthetic oil 5-40 or 5-50 multigrade, single grade oils are not suitable for modern engines - Harley Drive

4)   rice? Not white rice though, you must use only brown rice. - Frank Capo

5)   Look at you're owners manual. It should call for a 5W20 oil. - joshy

Question 3
Should i get a 07 honda civic si?...  Okay i have a 03 honda accord coupe its a v6 it had 240 hp. Im going to sell it tuesday for 8 500 dollars its got 91 thousand miles on it. Its in good conditon is that a good price to sell it for? When i sell it im gonna get a 07 civic si coupe is it worth buying and will i feel a diffrence in power between my accord and the si? I plan on getting alot of performance parts for the si also.O and one more thing the delear is asking 16 thousan for the civic si with 70 thousand miles on it i can get them to drop down the price is it worth it?

Answers
1)   Okay, so a general rule of thumb is to check the Kelley Blue Book and sell it for something around there.

The SI has a I4 and is less powerful than the Accord with the V6. I4 engines tend to have higher end power and less torque throughout the power band than the V6 that has a more broad power band. The SI will get a little better gas mileage and it is easier to modify because of the huge market for aftermarket parts.

Also, if you want to talk him down, negotiate well. That's not too bad of a price.

Good luck, man. - jaboyak

2)   that is a fair trade off but yes you can always talk the dealer down if they really want to make the sale. always look at the blue book value first and work your way down from there. you have to consider how hard the the previous owner drive this car and how much do i want to put into it. if your gonna tune it then look for a "shell" or a civic with a blown motor you can get them for dirt cheap. - fletchj416

3)   you should definitly haggle their price down but the civic si is a nice care and although you will feel the power difference, the handling, and smoothness of the ride will make up for it. - mike92

4)   you will hate the lack of low end power and the lack of smoothness you can always supercharge the new car to get more power and a lot more torque - Harley Drive

Question 4
92 civic 5spd no start?...  i got a 92 civic 5spd hatch back and everything works fine until i pulled over at the mall and got back in and wouldnt start, no cranking at all, i checked the fuses, relay, starter, battery and everything is 100% working, i dont know what else to check it doesnt turn over plz help?

Answers
1)   if you have a car alarm it could be the problem since it is connected to the ignition circuit. One time the carpet on my car got stuck under the clutch so it wouldn't turn on. If there is a gas smell it is the fuel pump. could be alternator. could be a loose wire. - pepita_88

2)   Are you getting spark? Any CELs? Is the battery voltage at 12.6 or near that?

Check the engine, tranny, and starter grounds. It's not uncommon for older ones to become loose or corroded. - SoCal

3)   If all your dash lights are coming when you turn the key on and you have a no crank condition--you either have a starter gone bad or a clutch safety switch(on the clutch pedal) bad (uncommon). REMEMBER only if you have dash lights coming on!/// If dash lights do not illuminate you could have a bad ignition switch(usually the car will still crank) or you have lost power to the car from the battery(if you are sure the battery is good). If you tried to jump start it and mixed up cable connection it will blow the main fuse in the underhood fuse box(some a 50A-60A or even 80Amp fuse). In your last comment you say you checked the starter and its good--how do you know this if the car wont crank(just curious)? Leave any other info. you may have! GOOD LUCK! - knowshonda

Question 5
why did honda stop making preludes at 2001?...

Answers
1)   cuz they suck.
just a civic with a gay body kit on it.. - Alan

2)   I also wondered why they stopped making Nissan 240sx's in 1999 in the US. But discontinuing a line of cars means room to develop and produce new cars. Though I wish they'd discontinue most lines or civic and put out a new prelude. It was time for change apparently. - DJ
